The Biermann Family - Cincinnati and Chicago
This is the only family grouping that I have found of the John F Biermann Family of Cincinnati, OH. From left to right - John F and his wife, Anna Schulte Biermann, Mae, Clifford John, Anna, John Joseph, and Hilda Biermann. Handwritten across the photo is the caption "this family just came from Russia." This was clearly meant to be tongue in cheek.
Taken in Chicago probably around 1905: (Top to bottom) Anna Schulte Biermann, John F. Biermann, Hilda Biermann, Mrs. Schulte (probably Elizabeth Kemp Schulte, mother of Norma Schulte), John J. Biermann, Jr., Anna Biermann, Norma Schulte, the baby is unknown, but may be a Schulte.
The note on this says "Currant pie, momma's boy." As the youngest child in a family of five, I often heard my grandmother say that my grandfather was spoiled by his mother and his sisters. The writing in white ink cannot be made out, but it looks like it may include the dog's name. I do not know if the gentleman on the beach is a family member.
This is my grandfather, John Joseph Biermann, Jr. He was not really a "junior" since his father was John F. Biermann. He was born on July 5, 1899, but he always celebrated his birthday on the Fourth of July.
My grandfather John Joseph Biermann and his two youngest sisters. Missing from most photos are the older Biermann children, Clifford and Mae. Clifford, born in 1884, was 15 years older than John, who was born in 1899.
John, Hilda, Anna Biermann and Norma Schulte ( first cousin). Norma was the daughter of Henry Schulte.
Captioned "Two orphans from Russia - please donate" as a joke. Hilda was the second youngest Biermann and Anna was the middle child. This photo was probably taken in Chicago.
